Big Breakfast for PCOS Women

On my previous entry aku ada janji yang aku akan share something about Big Breakfast & PCOS kan.
A new study found that Big Breakfast can actually boost the fertility of PCOS Women.

So benda ni aku baru dapat 2 3 hari lepas and kajian ni pun diorang BARU buat. Sebab semua article yang aku dah search, semuanya tahun ni, 2013. (Eh baru perasan, kita dah nak 2014 ye)

So what about Big Breakfast ni? Ops sorry, bukan Big Breakfast McD tu ye. McD is a NO-NO if you are TTC. Kalau teringin sekali-sekala, sila detox.

Ok here's some printscreen yang korang boleh baca. Nak baca penuh, boleh click link bawah gambar.

Petikan from the link:

In the study, 60 women with polycystic ovarian syndrome and a normal body mass index (BMI) were assigned randomly to one of two groups:
  • Big breakfast group - consumed a 980 calorie breakfast, 640 calorie lunch and a 190 calorie dinner
  • Big dinner group - consumed a 190 calorie breakfast, 640 calorie lunch and a 980 calorie dinner.
Both groups consumed a total of 1,800 calories each day and were tested after 90 days for insulin, glucose and testosterone levels. Ovulation and menstruation information was also analyzed.
Results showed that though neither group experienced a change in BMI, the big dinner group still had high levels of insulin and testosterone.
By contrast, the big breakfast group showed 56% less insulin resistance, as well as a 50% fall in testosterone levels.
Additionally, the reduction of insulin and testosterone levels in the big breakfast group led to a 50% rise in ovulation rate.

And here's some info from the newsletter I got in my inbox:
The women eating a small breakfast and large dinner showed virtually no improvement by the end of the study.  But the large breakfast/small dinner group had significant, even spectacular, improvements in their hormones and other measurements.   The blood sugar was down, insulin improved, testosterone greatly decreased, and sex hormone binding globulin increased (which helps to manage hormones).  Importantly, only women in the BF (breakfast diet) group ovulated twice during the study.

Timing of food intake may be important because of its effect on your circadian (day-night) rhythm.  For example, when mice are exposed to light at night (like we humans are), they eat more food in the evening and become heavier.  When they are not exposed to artificial light at night, they shift their eating to an earlier time and avoid becoming heavier.

In summary, we can use diet to control PCOS in three essential ways:
1)  WHEN we eat (emphasis on breakfast vs. dinner).
2)  HOW MUCH we eat (total calories, and caloric density of foods).
3)  WHAT we eat (composition of the diet).

These are the three basics of dietary control over PCOS.  Master these basics and you'll find your PCOS problems melting away.  This is not theory.  This is based on numerous medical studies of women with PCOS.

So WHEN we eat juga memainkan peranan. Maybe when the doctor ask u to reduce weight, kita start skipping breakfast, or makan ciput-ciput je. Tapi sebenarnya kajian mengatakan kalau kita makan Heavy Breakfast, (tinggi kalori) dan diikuti dengan smaller meal sampai malam, badan kita akan lebih cepat reduce PCOS symptoms and decrease insulin resistant.

But i dont mean heavy breakfast as in U CAN EAT ANYTHING ok. hahaha..
Of course la kena EAT HEALTHY, tapi BANYAK di waktu pagi.

Malam-malam takyah mentekedarah..heh....

Usaha tangga kejayaan uolls.
